About this studio

Swing Renegades teaches West Coast Swing at St Chad's Parish Centre on Otley Road in Headingley, Leeds. They run weekly classes on Tuesdays with a flexible structure: a Level 3 class at 7:30pm, a Level 2 class at 8:30pm (suitable for absolute beginners), and freestyle dancing from 9:30pm. You can drop in to any level without booking in advance.

The beginner bootcamp is a three-hour workshop designed to teach you the fundamentals in a single session. You'll learn the basic moves of West Coast Swing, a starter step, and how to connect with a partner — everything needed to step onto a social dance floor. Four bootcamps run each year. No partner, prior experience, or special clothes are required, though flat shoes are recommended.

For dancers who already know the basics, the progressive workshop offers higher-intensity, focused learning for Level 3 attendees. These three-hour sessions happen several times a year and are followed by a social dance from 8pm to 11pm, with a dinner break in between.

Partner rotation is built into every class, so you don't need to bring anyone — many dancers attend alone and the group is described as friendly and welcoming. You pay on the door by card (contactless or chip). The venue has free parking and food options nearby.
