About this studio

Swingdon School of Pole teaches pole fitness as a full-body workout on vertical poles, horizontal poles and wooden bars. Classes focus on building muscle tone, flexibility, coordination, posture, upper body and core strength through lifts, pull-ups, hangs, knee holds, elbow holds, armpit holds, thigh holds, foot holds, spins, tricks and stretches. Once you master individual moves, instructors teach you to link movements together to create continuous flow, then progress to tricks.

The studio offers classes in different styles: sport fitness, contemporary, exotic and dynamic. You can choose between athletic or dance-focused pole work depending on your preference. Beginners, intermediate, advanced and mixed ability classes run throughout the week. Three mixed ability classes per week are dedicated to socialising. On Fridays, students are encouraged to dress up and take pictures of their progress. All lessons are structured to suit your ability — you move at your own pace and can book extra one-to-one lessons if you need them.

The facility has extensive equipment: poles in six sizes (38mm, 40mm, 42mm, 43.4mm, 45mm and 50+mm) and multiple materials including stainless steel, chrome, powder coated, brass, silicone and wooden bars. There are no stairs, lots of individual poles and plenty of space. The studio has new flooring and offers lots of free parking.

Specialised classes include Aerial Hoop, Flexibility and Flow, Stretch and Strengthening, and Chair Dance. The studio also runs 12-week courses in pole fitness and personal training, and can host birthday parties, hen dos and stag dos. Beyond pole, Swingdon offers personal training and nutritional diet plans run by qualified instructors. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and booked as a private lesson (maximum 3 children per private lesson). Classes start at age 14+ for group sessions. The studio is open Monday to Sunday, 8:00–22:00.
