About this studio
Swingsation teaches Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Charleston and East Coast Swing in Antwerp at 't Spant (Boomsesteenweg 335, Wilrijk). Classes run Mondays and Thursdays, with four levels to choose from: The Spark (beginner, Thursdays 20:30), The Flame (intermediate, Thursdays 19:15), The Fire (advanced, Mondays 19:15), and The Pulse (Charleston-focused, Mondays 20:30). All courses are €170–€204 for the series.
The studio philosophy centres on connection, rhythm and communication rather than figures alone. Six named instructors teach here: Chris Smets focuses on partner connection; Silvia Hidalgo Martinez brings international flair; Erik Deklerck combines dance and DJ knowledge; Steffi Sassenus blends technical precision with energy; Stijn De Boeck (Dr. Swingenstein) teaches rhythm translation; Fiona Gilis emphasises how rhythm and fun align.
't Spant itself is described as a premium, atmospheric space with a flawless floor. Easy and free parking sits right in front. Classes are taught in Dutch, though the studio clarifies things on the fly for non-Dutch speakers. No partner is required to join—solo dancers are waitlisted until a match appears, but registering with a partner guarantees your spot instantly. You can audit a lower level for free once enrolled in your main course, subject to capacity and partner registration.
Your first class is free and risk-free: no payment upfront. After class, you'll receive a payment link. If it's not for you, just let them know and you owe nothing. If you miss a class, every session begins with a quick recap so you stay on track.
Beyond regular classes, Swingsation hosts socials and workshops. Upcoming events include a free Lindy Hop initiation at the Jaarmarkt Wilrijk (Sunday, August 9, 2026, 2:30–4:00 PM) and a 2-day Lindy Hop workshop with Fred & Alexandra Caputo (November 14–15, 2026).
