About this studio
Antwerp Burlesque Academy brings burlesque and related forms of sensual dance to Flanders through regular class series, masterclasses, and private workshops. The academy describes burlesque as 'the art of tease'—a performance art combining dance, striptease, and theatrical storytelling. It teaches both Classic Burlesque (with its vintage, glittery aesthetic) and Neo-Burlesque (the modernised, feminist-leaning variant).
Classes span multiple styles. The regular class series include Burlesque, Twerking, Seductive Steps, Chairdance, Floorwork, Erotic Movement & Lapdance, and Flexy Friday (flexibility training). All classes run on a semester model (September–December 2026 is the current offering) at €240 per series. Trial classes cost €15 and are available across multiple locations in September. The academy also runs masterclasses covering not just dance technique but makeup, posing, style advice, and self-care.
You'll find classes at six locations: the headquarters at Ballaarstraat 32 in Antwerpen (ABA HQ), plus De Nekker in Mechelen, RtalsMove in Herentals, Planeet Mars in Gent, Danstuin in Leuven, and additional venues in Hasselt. Private coaching and bespoke workshops are available, including team-building events and bachelorette packages (which include bubbles, makeup workshop, and photoshoot).
The academy emphasises body positivity, self-love, and inclusivity. Classes are open to everyone (men, women, non-binary) from age 18 upwards. It explicitly welcomes people of all body sizes, citing performers like Dirty Martini and Tempest Storm as examples of burlesque artists of all shapes. Beginners move from 'novices' to 'debutants' after one year of experience; dancers with prior experience in other styles can enquire about starting in the debutant series.
The teaching team is led by Palmyra La Diva (owner and lead instructor) and includes Belle La Rosa, Domina Aeria, Lucid Lucian, Nel Lioni, Miss Mona Little, and Miss Robin Rosy, each specialising in different styles. The Spectacular Starlets are the academy's performance group. Student reviews highlight a tight-knit community, professional instruction, and genuine encouragement of individual style development within burlesque.
