About this studio

Sydney Swing Katz is Australia's premier swing dancing performance troupe and teaching studio, founded in 2000. They specialise in classic vintage dance styles from the 1920s to the 1950s — Charleston, Swing, Lindy Hop, and Rock 'n' Roll — and have built a reputation over more than twenty years through extensive competition experience and teaching both locally and internationally.

The Concord location meets on Wednesdays at Concord Presbyterian Church Hall, 182 Concord Rd. Classes run for both absolute beginners and intermediate dancers. New beginner blocks start every 6–8 weeks; intermediate classes run year-round and accept drop-ins. Your first class is free if you're new to dancing.

You can come alone, bring a friend, or come as a group. The studio encourages rotating partners during class to improve your skills and help you meet other dancers, and troupe members and teachers step in too, so you learn from some of the best dancers in Australia. If partner rotation isn't for you, you're welcome to stay with the same partner for the whole class.

Private lessons are available for wedding first dances — the Katz create routines ranging from basic to fully choreographed themes to showcase couples' personal aspirations. They also work with dancers preparing for competition, offering expert guidance from seasoned instructors and competition winners to refine technique and receive personalised feedback.

The troupe performs regularly at festivals including Chromefest (The Entrance), Parkes Elvis Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival, Retrofest (Port Macquarie), Crank It Up (Bateman's Bay), Lady Luck (Katoomba), and Roaring 20s Festival (Blue Mountains). They have performed with The Beach Boys, The Bloody Beetroots at The Big Day Out, Dancing With The Stars, The Hot Potato Band, Lanie Lane, and other notable artists and shows.

If you're interested in performance, you can train with the troupe and potentially join as a member.
