Tango Mango Studio

Tango Mango is an Argentine tango studio founded by Marcelo and Noémi, located at Währinger Gürtel 81 in Vienna's 9th district, steps from the U6 station at Währinger Straße/Volksoper. The studio teaches Argentine tango across five distinct levels and also hosts social practicas and milongas.

The teaching philosophy centres on connection and dialogue between partners rather than memorising steps. Classes are offered in both German and English. The class range includes: Tango Schnupperstunde (taster class for newcomers, 75 minutes), Tango Anfänger I (Level 1, no prior experience needed), Tango Anfänger II (Level 2, covering modules on Sandwich & Giro, Rebound & Ocho cortado, Cross System & Calesita), Tango Basics (Level 3, preparing students for milongas and covering Milonga and Vals rhythms), and Tango Intermediate (Level 4, focusing on complex figures like Sacadas and Boleos). Solo Tango Technique for Both Roles is offered on Fridays with instructor Chiara Greco and requires no partner.

The Tango Mango Practica runs on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 19:30–22:00, welcoming all levels without a partner requirement. A team member provides a short input to inspire exploration. The studio also hosts a Semester Closing Milonga. Group courses run in cycles of 6 units at 75 minutes each; students register with a fixed partner and can arrange substitute dates if needed. Private lessons (50 minutes) are available, and the studio offers wedding choreography services for couples wanting a first dance to their chosen song.

The space itself comprises a large main room (approximately 70 m²), an additional room (15 m²), a kitchen (15 m²), two separate WCs, and a quiet courtyard with ivy-covered walls accessible through rear windows. The total studio footprint is 110 m². The studio is also available for hourly, half-day, or full-day rental for workshops, seminars, and private events.

The teaching team includes Marcelo (born in Vienna with Chilean roots, drawn to tango through his parents), Noémi (born in Timișoara, Romania, a former Latin dance state champion and now professional dancer, choreographer, and dance pedagogue), Fanni (born in Debrecen, Hungary, who lived three years in Argentina and now teaches on the team since early 2023), Laurin, Anahita, Vinzent, and Judith. The studio sells Tangolera tango shoes and can arrange fittings.

Drop in for a trial class (Tango Schnupperstunde) on Wednesdays at 18:00; no partner needed as the studio helps match people on the day. Courses run for 6 weeks, teaching Argentine tango technique through playful, humorous instruction with an emphasis on the connection between partners. You'll work on elements like walks, crosses (Ochos), spins (Giros), and flicks (Boleos) progressing toward improvisation.

Tango Anfänger I requires no prior experience, only openness and enjoyment of movement; the Tango Schnupperstunde is designed for newcomers and those exploring tango for the first time.
