About this studio
Lillis Ballroom is a dance studio and venue in Vienna's Stadtbahnbögen (arches 326–329) along the Donaukanal at Spittelauer Lände 12. The studio teaches Tango Argentino, Latin styles, Ballroom, Smooth and Rhythm across all levels, from complete beginners through advanced dancers.
Class structure spans a full autumn/winter trimester (from 21 September 2026) with Tango and Latin courses for beginners to advanced. The studio offers Tango Beginner classes, Tango Basics, Tango Improver (covering Vals, Milonga, Rhythmik and more), and a dedicated Queer Tango Beginner option. From autumn onwards, Latin courses are run in partnership with AtuRitmo and include Salsa Casino, Rueda de Casino and Bachata Fusion, held every Wednesday. Tango Summer Classes run from 6 July to 7 September 2026 on Mondays 18:45–20:00, aimed at dancers with at least 3 months' experience, with rotating teachers bringing different perspectives and styles. The studio emphasises connection, musicality and movement quality, with classes taught in German and English.
Private lessons are available both in-studio and online, tailored to your needs. You can book alone (if willing to dance both roles) or as a couple. First-time visitors can try a trial class (Schnupperstunde) for €5.
Beyond classes, the studio hosts Tango Cafecitos—social milongas—on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 16:00–19:00, where learners can practise, explore and find inspiration. The venue is available for private hire for corporate events and celebrations, open late into the morning hours. The studio can also host civil wedding ceremonies (Standesamt) at the Donaukanal location. All are welcome: the studio states that diversity of staff and students is a core value, and classes centre on awareness, connection and joy in shared dancing.
Office hours are Monday–Wednesday 09:00–20:30, Thursday 09:00–17:00, and Friday 09:00–13:00. The studio closes during school holidays (Christmas, February half-term, Easter, summer and autumn breaks) and on Austrian public holidays.
