About this studio
The Breakdance Academy teaches breakdancing to children and young people across Edinburgh. Classes run on Saturdays at two locations: Cramond Kirk Hall and the Royal Commonwealth Pool. The academy works with three named teachers: Blair, Harry, and Vitaly.
Blair and Harry are brothers who started breakdancing young — Blair at age 12, Harry at age 7. Both have competed and performed in major competitions worldwide. Blair is the main teacher and contact point, known for welcoming newcomers and tracking their progress from beginner to advanced. Harry, who describes himself as B-boy Harribo, began reluctant and nervous but became hooked after his first class; he now teaches with the same encouragement he received. Vitaly is an experienced substitute teacher whose individual breakdance skills have earned positive feedback from students.
The academy offers three class levels. Beginners, for those just starting their breakdance journey, are ages 7–14. Advanced classes are for ages 8–17 with previous experience or promotion. A new intermediate class sits between them. At Cramond Kirk, Saturday beginners run 9:30–10:15 and advanced 10:15–11:00. At the Commonwealth Pool, advanced is 12:30–13:30, intermediate 13:30–14:30, and beginners 14:30–15:30. Classes run during term time.
The academy emphasises the community of b-boys and b-girls, where you make friends across all levels and can work toward local and international competitions. Parent testimonials highlight the confidence and skills students gain, and the energy and passion teachers bring to each session. The academy also offers private tuition and online classes for those outside Scotland.
