About this studio
The Loft is an adults-only movement studio in North Charleston, born from a collaboration between Dance Lab and Unbound Ballet. Both parent organizations have deep roots in Charleston's arts scene, led by founders with decades of artistry, teaching, and performance in the community. The studio describes itself as a hidden, gorgeous open space designed for movement, joy, and expression, located next to the Starlight Motel.
The Loft operates as part of a two-location network: The Loft in North Charleston (adults-only) and Dance Lab in West Ashley (which includes youth programming). Your membership moves between both locations — you book freely and choose the space, energy, and atmosphere that suits your mood on any given day.
Class times are designed around real life: morning options to start your day with energy (but not too early), and plenty of early evening classes so you can be home in time for dinner. All classes are open-level, welcoming all abilities. There's also a beginner series to help you build confidence. A typical class includes warm-up plus vibes activation, technique and skill-building in a fun way (not drill-sergeant style), choreography or guided movement play, and a cool-down celebration that you showed up.
The studio welcomes all genders, bodies, and humans. You don't need to be flexible or in shape to start — the studio positions itself as where you build toward strength, flow, and confidence at a pace that feels good. Performance opportunities are available through their sister studio Dance Lab, but entirely optional. Bookings are done through the branded LOFT Adult Dance app, available on Apple and Google Play. You can drop in, but the studio recommends reserving your spot to guarantee a space. Cancellations must be made at least 2 hours before class to avoid being charged.
