About this studio

The Space is a yoga and movement studio on the second floor of 56 Southgate Street in Bath, founded by Chloe Baio. The studio's approach centres on breath, movement and meditation, with an emphasis on community and self-responsibility rather than performance or pose perfection. You move here for the gift of moving—not to perfect a pose, prove a point or perform in any way.

The studio teaches Yoga (their signature class blending asana, pranayama and meditation), Gentle Yoga (guided at a slower pace with encouraged use of props), Restorative Yoga (long holds in supported poses for deep rest), and Pilates (Sculpt) classes that pull from classical and contemporary Pilates with strength-training techniques. They also offer a 6-week Beginners Yoga course, 90-minute Extended Practices covering asana, anatomy, meditation, philosophy, pranayama, sound and chanting, and monthly donation-based classes on the last Sunday of each month. Teachers draw from many different lineages including Katonah Yoga®, Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Ghosh and Awakening.

The teaching team includes founder Chloe Baio (blending Katonah Yoga, Vinyasa and Contemporary Dance), Hakeem Balogun (drawing from Hatha and Vinyasa), Katie Hoskins (blending Katonah yoga, Pranayama, Vinyasa and Restorative practices), Samuel Gimson (mindful movement and creative learning), Nadia Craddock (breath-led flows with focus on strength and stability, trained at The Sacred Fig), Paul McConnell (Awakening Yoga with emphasis on ritual and self inquiry), Chloe Gatward (Mat Pilates and Barre instructor, trained with BASI), and Sammi Nunn (yoga for inclusive and supportive practice).

You book all classes in advance via their website using the Momence booking system—walk-ins are not allowed and registrations close 30 minutes before class start time. Classes start on time; if you arrive even 1–2 minutes late, you will not be able to enter. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in. The studio provides mats and props including blocks, straps and bolsters. Bring a sweat towel for grip and hygiene, and comfortable clothes. For Restorative or Sound Baths, layer up as your body temperature naturally drops. They offer parking information: the closest car park is SouthGate Car Park, or you can park free at Sainsburys Green Park for up to 90 minutes.

The Space hosts regular workshops and immersive events, including extended Katonah Yoga® experiences, workshops on savasana, yoga sequencing, Men's Pilates Club sessions, and upcoming Pratyahara: Dissolving the Senses workshops. They also offer The Space+, an on-demand library of yoga, pilates, meditation and more classes for home practice.
