About this studio

West Coast Swing Birmingham is part of EastonSwing, a network founded by Lee and Fabienne Easton, both world-renowned WCS instructors and choreographers with over 25 years' experience. The Birmingham location operates under the EastonSwing methodology, which has been carefully designed to deliver consistent, high-quality teaching across multiple UK venues.

Classes run for three hours and include four progressive levels of instruction. Level 1 is designed for complete beginners or anyone wanting to strengthen their fundamentals. Level 2 builds on those basics and introduces concepts to boost your confidence on the dance floor. Level 3 focuses on more advanced techniques to help you master complex patterns and refine your movement, while Level 4 focuses on creativity and mastering the finer techniques. Each class finishes with social dancing, giving you the chance to practise what you've learnt and build connections with other dancers in the community.

The EastonSwing approach removes guesswork from your progress. Each level includes a clear set of patterns and techniques, ensuring you get exactly what you need to master your current stage and move confidently to the next. The progressive structure builds week-by-week, with core techniques and concepts recurring as you explore new patterns and movements. This foundation-building works alongside always moving forwards and feeling inspired.

Beyond regular classes, EastonSwing offers workshops for intensive, focused learning, social parties where you dance without instruction, and multi-day events that connect you with dancers from around the world. Lee and Fab regularly travel internationally, teaching at major events and supporting the global swing community. They developed the Zero to Hero programme—an initiative that has grown into a feature at multiple events across the globe—to help new dancers feel confident, included, and inspired when attending their first events.

The philosophy behind EastonSwing goes beyond a single local class. Lee and Fab created a methodology that others can follow, and the anchor symbol in the EastonSwing logo represents the foundation of who they are: great teaching, a welcoming community, and the unmistakable EastonSwing energy. When you join, you become part of a UK-wide community with the mission to bring West Coast Swing to every major city and build a vibrant network of dancers who support, inspire, and grow together.

Studio history

EastonSwing was founded by Lee and Fabienne Easton after they attended several major events in the USA, including Boogie by the Bay, Swing Diego, and the US Open. Inspired by those experiences, they returned to the UK with a passion to grow a community of West Coast Swing dancers and provide an experience similar to those they enjoyed in America.
