About this studio

Wojtek Potaszkin Dance Academy is a family-friendly dance studio in Palmerston, Dublin 20, where children, teens and adults learn Ballroom, Latin, Breaking and Hip-Hop in a warm, encouraging environment. Classes are designed for all confidence levels — whether you arrive full of energy or need reassurance before joining in, the coaching approach is patient and clear. Dancers are known by name, and the studio culture emphasizes kind coaching, space to grow at your own pace, and parents being part of the journey.

The academy offers classes across multiple age groups and styles. Early Years Baby Ballroom (ages 2-5) introduces rhythm and movement through playful coordination. Children and Teens Beginner Classes cover Ballroom, Latin and street styles to build confidence and joy in dance. Breaking and Hip-Hop classes are energetic spaces where young dancers learn safely and express themselves. For adults, both Beginner Adult Classes and Adult Competitive & Performance options are available, with Ballroom and Latin accessible whether you're brand new or returning after a break.

Wojtek Potaszkin is the Founder, Director and Principal Teacher. He started dancing as a child in Poland and has brought a lifetime of Ballroom and Latin experience to the academy since moving to Ireland in 2009. The coaching team includes Elaine O'Dwyer and Sinead Doyle (Ballroom & Latin coaches), Volodymyr Belei (Ballroom coach), and Zhenya Kovalenko (Hip-Hop and Breaking teacher). Elena Konopljova offers fitness coaching. The studio also has a Studio Manager (Cathy Caulfield) and Child Liaison Officer (LesleyAnn Jones).

Beyond regular classes, WPDA offers specialist sessions including Private Lessons (one-to-one or pair coaching for all ages), Practice Sessions for current dancers, Wedding Dance Lessons for couples, and one-off Workshops open to all levels. The academy supports competitive training for young dancers who are ready, guiding them toward Irish and international dance events. Recent milestones include dancers representing Ireland in Ballroom and Latin competitions, and top solo girls travelling to the WDSF World Solo Championships Standard in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (2025). The studio also hosts guest workshops with renowned professionals — for example, a Cha-Cha-Cha Workshop with professional dancer and choreographer Robert Rowiński.

The academy runs an Annual Dance Camp and celebrates milestone moments with dancers and families. New dancers are never expected to know what to do straight away; coaches explain each step, check in often and help every student feel included from the beginning. Parents can ask questions about age groups, styles, timetables and what to expect before their child arrives.
