About this studio
Zouk Boise teaches Brazilian Zouk at Onyx Dance Studio, 5591 W Overland Rd, Boise. Classes run every Thursday evening with a clear two-tier structure designed to build skills progressively.
The 6 Pillars Drop-In Class runs 7:00pm–8:25pm and costs $10 per session. This is the entry point for all levels—from absolute beginner to advanced student. Each week focuses on different fundamental movements of Brazilian Zouk, the "6 Pillars". Beginners always start here. Intermediate and advanced dancers are encouraged to attend as the opposite role or to refine variations on the fundamentals for their primary role. The aim is to gain confidence in social dancing while building vocabulary and having fun.
The Level 2 Progressive Series is a structured 2-week course at $26 per series, which also includes access to drop-in classes and the Open Practica (9:30pm–10:00pm). This series builds on the Pillars fundamentals to teach the next level of moves and how to put together combos for dynamic social dancing. To register for Progressive Series, you must first attend all weeks of the Pillars drop-in classes at least once (in any order), then register for and pass an audition test demonstrating a clear grasp of the fundamentals. Progressive series tickets are paid in advance and non-refundable; if you miss a class, private lessons with instructors are available for an extra charge to catch up.
Zouk Boise emphasises creating a community built on inclusiveness, friendliness, and positivity. The studio runs Zouk Mountain events (scheduled for June 2025) and upcoming weekenders. Scholarships are available; applicants must submit a form by the 15th of the month. The studio also sells Zouk Boise merchandise and offers private lessons.
