About this studio
Boise Dance Alliance was founded in 2010 by Jenn Smart and Ashley Maggard, both educators who turned their childhood dream into a dance studio serving southeast Boise. The studio's philosophy recognises that dance is multifaceted, offering pathways for dancers seeking pre-professional ballet training, competitive company experience, or recreational classes. Whether you're exploring dance seriously or just for enjoyment, BDA aims to prepare you for whatever future in dance you choose.
BDA runs a BDA Company that performs throughout the Treasure Valley, giving students performance opportunities beyond regular classes. The studio maintains a strong commitment to creating a welcoming environment where all dancers feel lifted and loved. Parents can expect their children to learn dance skills while also gaining life lessons and confidence during their time at the studio.
Adult classes form a significant part of BDA's offering. SHiNE Dance Fitness is rooted in traditional styles like jazz, hip hop and ballet, with routines designed for both beginners and experienced dancers. A full SHiNE class burns approximately 750 calories and is choreographed to feel like a dance party rather than a structured workout. UPLIFT Dance Fitness launched in the fall of 2023 and combines cardio, standing routines with equipment, balance work, and core conditioning for a strength-focused hour. White Feather Yoga with Hayley is also available for all experience levels.
Classes run Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and Saturday 9:30am to 11:30am. SHiNE Dance Fitness classes meet on Saturdays at 8:30am with Teresa, Tuesdays at 10:00am with Kelly, and Fridays at 10:00am with Jannica. UPLIFT meets Wednesdays and Sundays at 12:00pm and 4:15pm. All adult dance classes are $10 drop-in, accepting cash, check or Venmo. Registration for workshops and classes is handled through the online Parent Portal.
