Overview
MASSabda is a non-profit ballroom dance organisation serving Massachusetts and a certified chapter of USA Dance - Chapter 3002. Its stated purpose is "to promote ballroom dancing in Massachusetts by introducing new people to the physical, mental, and social benefits of ballroom dance and by promoting the interests of existing dancers", pursued "by developing educational programs and exhibitions, social and competitive events, and outreach programs to involve dancers of all ages". It describes its scope broadly: "MASSabda supports all types of ballroom dancing, including social, performance, and competitive", and it "supports Ballroom dancers and the studios and other commercial organizations that support Ballroom dancing". Membership is open to "Ballroom Dancers, Social Dancers, Competitors and Youth Dancers" and is taken out through USA Dance under Chapter 3002. Its programmes include the Billy Morganti DanceSport Series, a weekly ninety-minute series whose stated goal is "to introduce dancers into the world of social and competitive dance in a friendly social environment", and an outreach programme for seniors at The Carousel Ballroom. It publishes a newsletter and a community dance calendar alongside its own monthly dances. Its tagline is "Dancers for Dancers".

CAPABILITIES ALL FALSE AND DELIBERATELY SO: MASSabda runs social and competitive EVENTS, but sanctioning authority for USA Dance competition sits with USA Dance nationally, not with a chapter. Recording sanctions_competition = true here would repeat exactly the definitional error catalogued in work_item 594, where "runs competitions" and "authorises other people's competitions" were collapsed into one column. If the chapter turns out to hold delegated sanctioning authority, that is a correction worth making with the USA Dance chapter rules as the source.
