Overview
Varsity Spirit brand that publishes school dance team competition rules and runs UDA camps, regional competitions and National Dance Team Championships in the United States. Its published school rule book sets divisions including Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop, Kick and Game Day. Founded in 1980 as Universal Dance Camps: Varsity's UDA page states it "was founded in 1980 as Universal Dance Camps. It was started as a need for educational training for what were then 'drill teams,' until UDA coined the phrase 'dance teams' to better promote the activity."
