World DanceSport Federation sanctions international competitions and world championships. Most inclusive: recognizes all dance styles (ballroom, Latin, 10-dance, historical, folk).
History
Founded in 1957 as the International Council of Ballroom Dancing (ICBD), later renamed to International DanceSport Federation (IDSF), and finally to WDSF in 2011.
WDSF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the governing body for DanceSport.
The federation has pursued Olympic inclusion for decades, with DanceSport appearing in the Asian Games and other multi-sport events.
WDSF currently has 95+ member bodies representing countries worldwide.
The organization sanctions World Championships, Grand Slam series, World DanceSport Games, and continental championships.
WDSF is the more inclusive of the two major international bodies, recognizing not only Standard and Latin but also breaking, wheelchair DanceSport, and formation dancing.
Governance & Structure
WDSF is governed by a Presidium (executive board) elected by member body delegates.
Each country has one official member body (e.g., USA Dance for the United States).

Adjudicators must hold WDSF licensing to judge at sanctioned events.
Athletes register through their national member body and maintain WDSF athlete licenses.
