Overview
Founded in 1977 when representatives met to form an organisation to govern the colour guard activity nationally, WGI describes itself as the governing body for the indoor colour guard, percussion and winds activities and as the world's premier producer of indoor colour guard competitions. It runs roughly 60 regional contests feeding an annual World Championships, with Scholastic and Independent categories in A, Open and World classes.
