Overview
International governing body for competitive Rock'n'Roll and its related disciplines, and an associated member of the World DanceSport Federation. Its own account of its history is that the European Rock'n'Roll Association was founded in 1974 by Wolfgang Steuer, was later renamed the WRRA, and developed into the World Rock and Roll Confederation in 1984. It governs its sports directly or through national member federations, and the disciplines it names are Rock'n'Roll, Rock'n'Roll Acrobatic, Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop, Bugg and Doublebug. Its authority runs on published rules rather than convention: the WRRC Tournament Rules bind its members and national federations and authorize World, Continental, Subcontinental, World Cup and International Open events. Alongside tournament rules it publishes organization, scoring, safety and division rules, registers dancers and coaches through national federations, and publishes results and world rankings for Rock'n'Roll and Boogie Woogie. National member bodies are listed in a country-by-country directory.

Both read 2026-09-05. Name and date. The year 1984 recorded here belongs to the Confederation under its present name. The body traces its own line further back: to the European Rock'n'Roll Association, founded 1974, later renamed the WRRA, which it says developed into the WRRC in 1984. This entry therefore does not describe the WRRC as existing before 1984, and does not give 1974 as its founding year, because the organisation of 1974 carried a different name. Rankings. The Confederation publishes world rankings for Rock'n'Roll and Boogie Woogie. The ranking function recorded here rests on those published rankings rather than on an inference from its role in sanctioning. Dances. Only Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop are linked from this entry. The Confederation's headline disciplines Rock'n'Roll and Rock'n'Roll Acrobatic, and the Bugg and Doublebug, have no style page on this site to link to yet; their absence here is a gap in our coverage, not in the Confederation's.
