About the author
Federico García Lorca (1898–1936) was a Spanish poet, playwright, and artist of international significance, associated with the Generation of '27 and the Spanish avant-garde. A native of Andalusia, he maintained deep personal and artistic engagement with flamenco, folk music, and regional culture throughout his life. His interests ranged from lyric poetry and modernist drama to painting, musical composition, and cultural criticism. He was murdered during the Spanish Civil War at age 38.
