About the author

Fela Aníkúlápo Kuti (1938–1997) was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer, and political activist who created Afrobeat and led the Afrobeat movement from the 1960s until his death. He was also a dancer and choreographer who shaped the visual language of his band's performances. This autobiography was authorised by Kuti himself and published while he was still active.
