About this studio
26th St Latin Dance opened in 2025 as Des Moines' home for Latin dance. The studio teaches Salsa (On1 and On2 timing), Bachata, Merengue, and Cumbia across multiple levels, from Foundations through Improvers Level 3. All levels are welcome and no partner is required.
Classes run on Mondays and Wednesdays. Monday offerings include Foundations Level 1 Bachata (6:00–7:00 PM), Foundations Level 2 Bachata (7:00–8:00 PM), and Improvers Level 3 Salsa (8:00–9:00 PM). Wednesday classes cover Foundations Level 1 Salsa (6:00–7:00 PM), Improvers Level 2 Salsa (7:00–9:00 PM), and Improvers Level 3 Bachata (8:00–9:00 PM).
Beyond regular classes, 26th St Latin Dance runs a strong social calendar. Fri Fuego Fridays happen at La Bonita (6611 University Ave, Windsor Heights) every Friday, with a class at 9:00 PM followed by social dancing at 10:00 PM for a $10 cover. Special Salsa Nights are scheduled for August 7 and August 21 at La Bonita on the same format. A Bachata Night takes place at The Continental (407 E 5th St, Des Moines) on August 29, also running 9:00 PM class to 10:00 PM social dancing with a $10 cover.
The studio also offers wedding choreography to help you create unforgettable moments on your special day. Founded on a belief that dance should be bold, expressive, and alive, 26th St Latin Dance is rooted in Latin culture and a commitment to quality social dancing.
