About this studio
Alkor Dance teaches ballroom, Latin and wedding dance from two Birkenhead venues: Shore Dance at 17 Enterprise Street and Birkenhead Hall at 181 Hinemoa Street. All classes are taught by Ekaterina Prus, an accomplished ballroom and Latin dance coach with 17 years in the dance world and 15 years as a dedicated dance teacher.
Ekaterina holds titles as an Australian, New Zealand, and All-Asian Pacific Dance Champion and is recognized as an international dance judge. Her students have achieved victories in international Latin competitions and numerous competitions in Russia. She offers coaching in both Latin and ballroom dance for solo and couples instruction.
The studio runs group classes for kids and teens on Thursday 6:30–7:30pm and Sunday 11:00am–12:00pm. Adult dance classes meet Tuesday and Thursday 2–3pm. Wedding dance classes are also offered Tuesday and Thursday 2–3pm, designed to help couples prepare choreography for their special day.
Private lessons are available throughout the week: Monday to Friday 10:00am–1:30pm, plus Tuesday 5:45pm, Wednesday 6:00pm and 7:00pm, Thursday 5:00pm and 7:30pm, and Friday 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Private instruction covers beginner dancers, wedding couples, small groups, medal training and competition training. By invitation, a Training Group offers in-depth technical ballroom training for competition dancers and those at high medal levels.
New students are welcome and can book a free trial lesson. The studio requires 24 hours' notice for cancellation or postponement of private lessons, otherwise the full fee will be charged.
