About this studio
Hugo Patyn and Celina Rotundo are Argentine Tango dancers, choreographers and master instructors from Argentina who teach at their studio in Carrollton. They have performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including CITA in Buenos Aires, the New Orleans Tango Festival, Chicago Tango Fest, and many others. Their teaching focuses on fundamentals, understanding the principles of movement, and musicality.
The studio offers a complete program ranging from beginning technique to advanced interpretation and performance. Classes cover walking, rhythm, posture, traditional figures and complex sequences, with an emphasis on the embrace, connection, expression and the culture and history of Argentine Tango. You can study in person or virtually from home.
The programme is structured around the "Celina & Hugo Method". Students learn tools of balance, coordination, musicality and interpretation, whether dancing alone or with a partner. According to reviews from students across the world, Hugo and Celina break everything down step by step, are exceptionally detailed and student-focused, and create an encouraging and positive teaching environment.
The studio also hosts social dancing and milongas. They run the annual Holiday Tango Weekend in Dallas (the 8th edition is scheduled for December 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Dallas), and regularly feature international tango shows with live orchestras, including recent performances with the Dallas Symphonic Orchestra and Tango Bardo Orchestra.
Hugo and Celina have trained extensively from an early age in Ballet, Argentine Folklore, Music, Flamenco and Figure Skating, and were influenced by master teachers including Osvaldo Zotto, Gloria & Eduardo Arquimbau, Nito & Elba and Pedro Monteleone. They have been invited to perform with prestigious Tango Orchestras including COLOR TANGO, LA JUAN D'ARIENZO, AMORES TANGOS, and LOS HEREDEROS DEL COMPÁS, and teach at major Argentine Tango Festivals worldwide including CITA, TANGO MISTERIOSO, VALENTANGO, VIVA MEXICO FESTIVAL, TANGO FESTIVAL IN MALAGA, and MIAMI TANGO SUNSHINE.
