Before your first class
Most students start as total beginners; the studio specializes in teaching beginner dancers how to survive on the dance floor.
For your first lesson, wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and shoes with a back that won't easily fall off (ballroom shoes, ballet slippers, or jazz shoes are acceptable).

About this studio
Arthur Murray Dance Studio Carmichael teaches over 30 styles of dance, including Waltz, Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, Tango, Two-Step, Argentine Tango, Bachata, Merengue, and Country Western. The studio works with singles, couples, youth (ages 6–16), and those preparing for their first dance at a wedding.
You'll start learning on your very first lesson. The studio uses what it calls a "fool-proof method" designed to get you on the dance floor quickly, regardless of experience. After answering a few questions about your goals and what you want the dance to look and feel like, one of their certified instructors guides you through basics and leaves you with a plan of action for your next sessions.
For couples preparing a wedding dance, the studio offers three structures: full choreography, lead-and-follow improvisation, or a combination of both. They also edit music for your first dance as part of the wedding dance lesson package. The studio recommends starting several months before your wedding to avoid last-minute stress. Your first wedding dance lesson costs $49.
Youth classes run Wednesday at 4pm for ages 6–16 (45 minutes). Private lessons are available Monday 5:30pm–9pm, Tuesday–Friday 1pm–9pm, and Saturday 12pm–4pm. Youth private lessons are $90 per lesson; group class is $50 a month or $15 per class, with the first private lesson or class free. The studio also offers free group classes, parties, and festivals for current students. Those interested in competing can access local, international, and national competitions.
