About this studio

Avec Dance Club is a partner dance school run by five dance professionals teaching Latin, Afro and Swing styles in Vallila, Helsinki. The studio occupies an ideal location with strong public transport connections and offers progressive, level-based courses throughout the year, including 2026 autumn season intensives and bootcamps for beginners and advancing dancers.

You'll study Argentine tango, Bachata, Boogie Woogie, Bugg, Cross Body Salsa, Cuban Salsa, Kizomba, Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing. Classes are structured as closed progressive courses with limited spots; most do not accept drop-ins, though availability is decided by individual teachers. The studio encourages you to register in advance to secure your place and receive the best pricing. If you register without a partner, you join a waitlist; couples registering together are accepted immediately. Partner changes happen in every class—the studio's experience shows this is the fastest way to learn and builds community.

The teaching team includes Matias, Tuomas, Reetta, Omar and Johanna, who offer private lessons as well as group instruction. Private lessons are available as recovery sessions (catching up on missed material), improvement sessions (deepening what you've learned in courses) or special topic work on technique, musicality, spinning, following or leading. Couple teachers cost 120€ for 55 minutes or 150€ for 85 minutes; individual teachers charge 90€ or 120€ for the same durations. Additional persons can join for a small surcharge.

The studio has two spaces that can be rented separately or combined. Club Space 1 is 90 sqm and holds 40–60 people; Club Space 2 is 65 sqm and holds 20–40 people. Combined, they form a 150 sqm dance floor. Both have hard wooden floors, natural light and a strong sound system. The studio is available for evening and night-time rental outside regular hours. Teachers and show groups interested in regular weekly classes or practice space can negotiate discounted longer-term rental rates.

Arrive on time; doors open 10 minutes before class. You must wear indoor shoes with non-marking soles, dance shoes or socks—no outdoor shoes or hard-soled shoes on the wooden floor. Switch your phone to silent during classes. Partner with different dancers each session to learn fastest and enjoy the community. Dancing happens close together, so don't attend while ill. The studio is not responsible for personal items. Avoid strong perfumes, which can prevent others from participating fully.

What to expect

Your first visit

Expect to arrive early, change partners frequently during the 1.5-hour class, and work on technique with one or two instructors on a quality wooden floor. Come in socks or indoor dance shoes only, and keep your phone silent. You'll be grouped by level, so choose a course that matches your experience, not just your schedule.
