About this studio
Azúcar was inaugurated in 2000 as São Paulo's first Latino-Cuban house. Since opening, it has served as an informal cultural embassy for Cuba, pioneering the introduction of Latin rhythms to nightclub venues in the city and famously introducing mojitos to Brazil. The venue has hosted landmark events including exhibitions by celebrated Cuban photographer Alberto Korda, performances by members of the Buena Vista Social Club, Rumba performances, and dance competitions.
Azúcar offers free dance classes and live bands on designated evenings. The original menu and drinks list draw from Caribbean cocktail culture, featuring rum and tequila-based drinks that reflect the house's Cuban roots.
Since December 2021, Azúcar has operated from a new location in Vila Madalena, one of São Paulo's most bohemian neighbourhoods. The venue occupies an airy colonial house with a veranda and garden.
The house hosts birthday celebrations and private events, with special conditions available for bookings. You can browse the weekly schedule and promotions on their site and arrange events through their contact details.
