Before your first class
Classes are structured by level from beginner upwards, first class is free, and the All City programmes explicitly welcome all levels with no prior experience required.

About this studio
Baila! Baila! Dance Academy has taught Ballet Folklorico (Traditional Mexican Folk Dance) since 1990, when sisters Israela and Felissa Garcia founded the studio with the mission of preserving culture through the arts. Over 35 years, the academy has grown to serve students from age 2 through adulthood across Albuquerque and New Mexico.
Classes run Monday through Thursday 5:30 pm to 8 pm, with Saturday morning sessions from 9 am to noon. Ballet Folklorico is offered at beginner, pre-intermediate, intermediate, and advanced levels. Salsaerobics (exercise to Latin music) runs Saturday mornings. The studio also offers private lessons and voice lessons by appointment. First class is free for all students.
A distinctive feature is the All City Teen (ACT) programme, which provides free Ballet Folklorico lessons to all New Mexico students in grades 8–12, held Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm. The All City Youth (ACY) programme extends free instruction to kindergarten through 7th grade students: K–4th grade meets Monday at 5:30 pm, 5th–7th grade at 6:30 pm. Both programmes are partnership initiatives with the City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Public Schools, designed to reach students without financial means to participate in dance.
All Baila! Baila! dancers receive performance opportunities throughout the year at public and private events statewide. The academy hosts annual summer tours with a history of performances at major venues: past tours include cruise ships, Disney World, New York City, Mexico, the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and Hawaii. A summer recital takes place in June. The studio offers costume rentals and can host private parties and events; booking inquiries are welcome.
The newly renovated rehearsal spaces and dance rooms are located at 2801 Girard Blvd NE. Hours are Monday–Thursday 9 am to 8 pm, Saturday 9 am to noon; the studio is always open by appointment.

Fill out a registration form and arrive for your first class free. Classes are organized by age group and level, with instructors guiding you through the fundamentals of Ballet Folklorico. You'll work in a newly renovated dance room with other students at your level.

Founded in 1990 by sisters Israela and Felissa Garcia, Baila! Baila! Dance Academy was established with the goal of preserving culture through the arts. Over its 35-year history, the studio has expanded from a single mission to a multi-programme operation, developing community partnerships to provide free dance instruction to vulnerable youth while maintaining a touring and performing ensemble.
