About this studio
Ballroom Dance Academy Singapore, founded by Directors Arkady Bakenov and Cheryl Yuen, is located at Level 3 Concorde Shopping Centre on Outram Road. The academy teaches a full range of ballroom styles: Latin dances including Chachacha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive; Standard dances including Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep; New Vogue dances such as Balmoral Blues, Sallyanne Cha Cha, Mambo Magic, Swing Waltz and Mayfair Quickstep; and social dances including Salsa, Bachata and Line Dancing.
Classes are structured by level. Beginner classes follow a 10-week syllabus, typically covering two dances per term. The Ballroom Dancing Taster Course is 4 weeks long and introduces newcomers to Cha Cha, Jive, Waltz and Tango, ending with a social night. Foundation, Intermediate, Pre-Advanced and Advanced open classes run throughout the year with no fixed syllabus, suitable for dancers building their technique or working toward competition level.
The academy offers private and group classes alongside technique classes for current ballroom dancers. Basic Technique classes suit dancers with foundational knowledge who want to improve their skills, while Advanced Competitor Technique classes target dancers with sufficient technique who are learning complex choreography, partnering and dance dynamics. Assessment and instructor acknowledgement are required before joining Pre-Intermediate and above classes.
Irina Cherepanova, a Professional Competitor, leads weekly group classes on Sunday and Monday. Single trial classes cost S$30, or you can purchase a studio package of S$250 for 10 classes valid over 3 months. New students pay a one-time registration fee of S$20.
Kids classes begin at age 3 and include Beginner Kids Nursery (3–4 years), Beginner Kids (5–8 years) and Beginner Kids (7–12 years) Latin classes. Intermediate and Advanced kids classes are also available. The academy runs annual kids programmes with opportunities for performances, exams and competitions.
The studio organises regular monthly socials, competitive camps and galas including events such as LLUVIA 2025, ALHAMBRA 2024, AURUM Camp-Gala-Comp 2026, and ATLANTIS Camp-Gala-Comp 2023.
