About this studio
Ballroom Dance Dallas is a non-profit social dance club that has hosted monthly ballroom dances since 1995. The club was founded when a local dance studio discontinued its monthly ballroom dances; regulars under the leadership of Marilyn Meyers formed what was originally called Dance Connections Club, recently renamed Ballroom Dance Dallas.
Every third Saturday of the month, the club hosts an elegant ballroom dance at Sokol Hall (7448 Greenville Avenue, Dallas). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with a free professional dance lesson from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., followed by dancing until 10:30 p.m. Each month features a different style and theme—recent examples include Rumba, American Tango, Salsa, Bolero, Hustle, Nightclub 2-Step, Waltz, Bachata, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Progressive 2-Step, and Foxtrot. All music is provided by live bands.
The club welcomes dancers aged 16 and over. Dance hosts are available for unescorted ladies. Admission is $20 for members, $25 for guests, and $10 for students. Membership costs $45 annually and includes reduced admission fees to each dance, a newsletter, and an annual membership handbook. The club accepts cash, checks, credit cards, and Zelle for payment.
The environment is smoke-free, and you may bring snacks. The club maintains both summer and winter dress codes. Winter dress requires ladies to wear formal dress or after-5 attire, and gentlemen to wear a coat and tie or tuxedo. Summer dress (May through August) asks ladies to wear dressy casual or after-5 attire, and gentlemen to wear a dress shirt with dress slacks; a coat and tie are optional. Many dances have themed dress, which is encouraged but not mandatory. The club emphasizes its mission to encourage, promote, and support ballroom dancing as an art form and to preserve ballroom dancing by sponsoring dances throughout the community.
