About this studio
Ballroomdansen.nl has been teaching dance in Amsterdam-West since 2002. The studio welcomes hundreds of people to the dance floor each year, regardless of experience level or background. Their philosophy is simple: dancing should be enjoyable first, technical second. You learn step by step while having plenty of space to have fun and dance together.
The studio runs several regular class formats. The introductie-les (introduction lesson) happens on Sundays at 20.15 for €25 per person and is designed as a low-pressure first meeting with the dance floor and other students. The beginnerscursus (beginner course) runs for 8 weeks of 1-hour lessons on Sundays at 20.15 from 13 September to 22 November, costing €250 per person with drinks included during the lessons. They also offer the Weense Wals Workshop (Viennese Waltz Workshop) on selected Fridays, and linedance introductie-les. Beyond regular classes, the studio teaches Stijldansen (style dancing) and runs a Beginnerscursus Bruidsparen (beginner course for couples getting married).
Classes are relaxed, personal and sociable—no experience needed, and age is not a barrier. Participants range from 20 to 80 years old. The studio explicitly welcomes same-sex couples, friends dancing together, and solo participants. They emphasize that special clothing or dance shoes are not required; comfortable clothes and ordinary shoes with a smooth sole are enough to start.
