About this studio

Beleste Dance teaches ballroom, Latin, smooth and rhythm styles to dancers of all ages and abilities at their studio inside Goodlife Health Centre on the first floor of DFO, 19 Amazons Place in Jindalee. Founded in 2015 by Lester Skorka and Belinda Bischa, the studio grew from a chance request to teach dance to a group of indigenous young adults—an experience that inspired them to build a broader teaching practice. Both instructors have been involved in DanceSport (competitive ballroom dancing) for over 35 years. They have competed together at state and national level, won four graded Australian titles together, and are finalists in their Open events at recent Australian Dancesport Championships.

The studio runs several regular programs. Sunday Night Social Dance runs from 6.00pm to 8.30pm, with a beginner class at the start followed by non-stop partner dancing covering Latin, Ballroom, Sequence and New Vogue styles. An Acceleration Class is available from 5.00pm for experienced dancers. No partner is required to attend, and instructors run "Pop-Up" classes throughout the evening to keep feet moving. Feet on Fire is a young adult program for ages 11–18, held Friday nights 5.30pm–6.30pm in conjunction with the Pamphlett-Tennyson Sea Scouts.

Private lessons are available for individuals, couples and small groups of up to four people. The studio specialises in wedding dance packages, with couples often learning choreography in as few as three to six lessons. Instructors teach Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing Waltz and La Bomba. The studio also runs school formal programs—past clients include Ambrose Treacy College, Indooroopilly and Stuartholme School, Mt Cootha—and offers dance programs for corporate events, debutante presentations, youth clubs and other functions either at the studio or at your location. An All Abilities dance and music program uses movement, music, dance, drumming and percussion to assist individuals with special needs, with programs individualised to each client. The studio has a large air-conditioned floor with mirrors.
