About this studio
Best Wedding Waltzes teaches couples how to dance their first dance at their wedding. Frank Lizzio, the principal instructor, has over 20 years of teaching experience and trained internationally for 15 years, competing at the Blackpool Dance Festival in 2006 after receiving a scholarship to train in the UK with leading dance instructors. Anessa Caputo, the other instructor, has been dancing since age 3 and has taught over 1000 bridal routines across four years in London and her work in Australia.
Most couples who come here have never danced before. The studio specialises in teaching complete beginners—people who feel awkward, unsure, or worried about looking silly. You work one-on-one in a private space, building a personalised routine around your chosen song, your style, and your comfort level. The approach is step-by-step, calm, and designed to feel easy. There is no pressure to perform or remember complicated steps. The aim is for you to feel confident, present, and like yourselves when you step onto the dance floor.
The studio offers five package options. The Basics Package ($620 for 4 × 45-minute lessons) suits couples already comfortable dancing who want a short 1–2 minute routine. The Rose Gold Package ($770 for 5 lessons) creates a 2–2:30 minute dance with simple choreography including dips and twirls. The Silver Package ($900 for 6 lessons) adds more choreography with possible lifts. The Gold Package ($1160 for 8 lessons, marked as most popular) creates a 3–3:30 minute routine with polished technique and more attention to detail. The Total Package ($1420 for 10 lessons) produces a 3–4 minute showstopping routine. For those short on time, single lessons cost $175–$325 depending on length. The studio also offers a 75-minute group masterclass on first dance basics, held one Sunday per month, for $175 per couple.
The studio is located at Level 1/103 Foveaux St, Surry Hills. It provides a private dance space so you learn without distraction from other classes. Metered parking is available outside on Foveaux St, and free 1–2 hour parking can be found on nearby Riley St. The studio is LGBTQ+ friendly and welcomes all couples. Testimonials mention couples feeling nervous before starting but leaving confident and grateful. One notable client was Larissa, the 2019 MasterChef winner, who took lessons before her wedding in March 2021 and said "Thanks heaps! We had so much fun dancing with you."
