About this studio
Black Bottom is a swing dance school in Valencia's Ruzafa neighbourhood, established in December 2012 by a group of friends united by a shared passion for music, dance, and the culture of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. The school teaches Lindy Hop, Balboa, Solo Jazz, Blues, Collegiate Shag and Tap, alongside swing choir singing.
The studio occupies an impressive space of over 400 square metres on Carrer del Cap Jubi, 4. The school is open Monday to Friday, 18:00–22:00, with new beginner groups opening each month across all disciplines. Classes are €40 per month for a single activity, or €105 per trimester; discounted rates apply for second and third activities.
You do not need a partner to join. If you arrive without one, the studio will add you to a waiting list to find a match, or you can sign up without a defined role and be partnered automatically. The first class is always free.
Black Bottom organises social dance parties and events focused on the 1930s and 1940s era. The school also runs workshops, including the Valencia Balboa Festival and the 13º Aniversario Black Bottom event. A choir programme (coros) is available for those interested in singing rather than dancing.
