Onyx Dance & Arts Studios/Carpe Danza

Onyx Dance & Arts Studios, also known as Carpe Danza ("Seize The Dance"), opened in July 2024 at 140 W Main St in downtown Boise. The studio is run by Natalie Gallegos, who teaches and choreographs across multiple disciplines and believes that everyone has the ability to dance given passionate instruction and a safe space to practice.

The studio offers a wide range of dance styles including Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Tango, Swing, Country Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Disco, and Flamenco. Beyond dance, classes include Yoga (Vinyasa Flow, Flexibility Yoga, and ZIN courses), Yoga Trapeze, PiYo, NRG Dance Fitness, Art classes, and Music instruction. Yoga classes are described as a journey of self-discovery and movement, with experienced instructors guiding students through various poses with focus on listening to and honouring the body. Art classes offer multiple mediums at every stage of practice.

Every Friday night, Natalie teaches beginner Salsa and Bachata classes at Ocho's Winebar, a local social venue where students can dance after instruction. Wedding dance instruction and choreography is a core service; the studio works with couples to create first dances that express their character and love for each other.

The studio also offers workshops, special events services, and destination teaching. Natalie travels to host special events for organisations and individuals, including destination weddings, retreats, parties, conventions, and workshops. The studio's mission is to provide a creative, safe space for connection and growth through the arts, bringing together inspired and passionate instructors to spread the love of dance, yoga, music, art and community.
