About this studio
CT Dance Studio teaches ballroom and Latin dancing in Charlotte, with instructors who bring decades of competitive and teaching experience. Clement Joly, originally from Montreal, began dancing at age twelve and competed at the highest amateur and professional levels, including the North American Professional Latin finals. He trained extensively in London under internationally renowned instructors and represented Canada in major international competitions across Great Britain, France, Croatia, Mexico and the United States. Tatiana Kazakova began dancing at age 7 and achieved honours as a two-time Ukrainian National Junior & Young Latin Champion, four-time Ukrainian National Champion, and four-time World Vice Champion in both Standard and Latin team formations. She moved to Moscow to become a professional member of the Russian Dance Union, competing in the Grand Prix Series, and by 2004 she and her partner were rated in the top 9 best couples of Russia in Professional Latin National Championships.
The studio was co-founded by Clement and Tatiana in 2019. Both are certified by the USTA (A+ B+ C+ D+ E+) and registered with the National Dance Council of America and World Dance Council. Clement directed Metropolitan Ballroom in Charlotte from 2007 to 2018 before establishing CT Dance Studio. During that period, his Latin students won the World Pro-Am Championship Title and placed several times as top three finalists in the World Pro-Am Championships and in the "Best of the Best Challenge" at the Ohio Star Ball (2012 to 2018). Tatiana also co-founded Metropolitan Ballroom and directed the children's program there until 2018.
The studio teaches ballroom and Latin dancing from beginner to advanced levels. Classes cover Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Waltz, Shag, Tango, Foxtrot and Swing. The instructors train amateur students and professional instructors in the advanced and expert levels of the Latin and Ballroom curricula. The studio also offers wedding first dance choreography and instruction, children's programs, and competitive showcase training. Both instructors have collaborated with local performing arts organisations: they choreographed the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra's special presentations "Ballroom!" (comprising six Latin and Standard dances with the full orchestra in 2013) and "A Waltz to Remember" (with the full orchestra in February 2015), as well as another special orchestral presentation in the Southwestern US later that year.
The studio welcomes dancers of all ages and different dance goals. Clement is described by a student of twelve years as "very professional, fun" and someone who helps each student "feel great about themselves, and helped them be their best on the dance floor." The studio operates from 8610 Camfield St D, Charlotte, NC 28217, and you can reach them by phone or email.
