About this studio

Dusty Jazz Studio teaches three connected swing dance styles rooted in early 20th-century African American culture. Lindy Hop, born in Harlem ballrooms in the early 1900s and reaching worldwide fame in the 1930s, is a partnered dance defined by joy, irony and improvisation. Jazz Roots—also called Charleston—is a solo style danced to Swing music from the 1900s onwards, built from the intersection of different dance styles and steps, characterised by rhythm, joy and energy. Blues is a spontaneous, highly interpretive solo form born between the 1800s and 1900s in African American communities of the southern United States, emphasising listening, presence and connection.

The studio has operated since 2013 as an association (ASD Dusty Jazz APS), building a swing community in Torino and expanding to a second location in Trapani. They run weekly classes, workshops, and regular social events. They offer a 20% discount for anyone under 30 on all courses. The studio runs trial lessons, regular scheduled classes, and special events including "Swing tra le Palme" and "School Days". You can register with the association to attend activities.

Dusty Jazz operates in two cities—Torino and Trapani—with a newsletter you can join to stay updated on the association's activities. The studio describes itself as a space for swing culture, courses, workshops, events and community.
