About this studio
Evolution Swing teaches West Coast Swing, a partner dance with versatile musical inspirations. The school's stated mission is to make you grow as you pursue your passions through dance.
Group classes run on a continuous basis from beginner through advanced levels. Evolution Swing says it is currently the only school in North America to offer regular group classes (not drop-ins) on a continuous basis up to advanced levels. The school has been running regular classes without interruption for 5 years. If you have already danced West Coast Swing and want to join, contact the school directly so they can direct you to the group that suits your background.
Private lessons are available by appointment for specific needs: wedding choreography, perfecting West Coast Swing technique, moving to a higher level group class, or discovering the style for the first time.
Evolution Swing runs three competitive teams. Westy Unit is a beginner-intermediate level team coached by Philippe and Flore Berne. Westy Crew is the most advanced team, also coached by Philippe and Flore Berne. Westy Ladies is a solo team for women to improve individual abilities, coached by Flore Berne. Auditions for the teams are held in August/September. The school emphasises team spirit, showmanship and technique in a friendly atmosphere.
The teaching staff includes Céline, Flore, François, Jean-Christophe, Jenny, Karine, Philippe and Valérie P. Flore Berne and Philippe Berne are listed as coaches for multiple teams.
What to expect
Your first visit
Contact Evolution Swing to be matched with a group class suited to your level. Classes run Monday to Thursday 3pm–10pm and Friday 4:30pm–10pm. Private lessons can be arranged by appointment.
