About this studio
Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Atlanta Midtown has been teaching Atlanta to dance since 1985. Located in the King Plow Arts Center on West Marietta Street in Midtown West since 2004, the studio serves Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown patrons. You'll find a warm, welcoming community described by students as non-judgmental and joyful from your first visit.
The studio teaches the full range of ballroom dances across both International and American styles. You can learn Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz, and West Coast Swing. Whether you want a simple first dance or a fully choreographed routine for your entire wedding party, the studio customises wedding dance programmes to match your style and song.
Lessons come in three formats: private instruction tailored to your pace, group classes held throughout the week (typically afternoons and evenings), and practice parties in a dimly lit party atmosphere where you apply what you've learned. The studio's floating dance floors are designed to prevent tired feet. Staff include Michelle Grady (Studio Owner, Manager & Instructor), Tim Brooks (Area Developer), Philip Gutierrez (Studio Owner), Chantal Leclerc (Regional Dance Director, with FADS since 1994), and Jahlil Burks (Instructor). Instructors are certified in the Fred Astaire Curriculum, many hold Fine Arts degrees, and several are actively competing, award-winning professional dancers.
Beyond regular lessons, the studio runs monthly events including Guest Parties, weekly Practice Parties, and monthly Saturday Soirée. A Patron Club offers additional lessons, special pricing, and intensive training. For competitive dancers, there's a Competition Club and access to branded Regional, Inter-Regional, National and International Pro-Am and Professional competitions. You don't need a partner—your instructor becomes your partner for private lessons, and group classes and practice sessions offer plenty of chances to meet other students.

You'll step into a warm, non-judgmental environment. Your instructor will be your partner for private lessons if you're single, or you can bring your own. Group classes run throughout the week, typically afternoons and evenings, and practice parties happen in a party-like atmosphere where you dance to live music with other students.
