Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Brookfield teaches ballroom and Latin dance to students of all ages and abilities. The studio offers a full range of styles including Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Salsa, Merengue, Hustle, East Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Bolero, Mambo, Quickstep and West Coast Swing. You can learn either International or American Ballroom styles, or both.
Lessons are available as private instruction, group classes, and practice parties—all under one roof. The studio's teaching method is built on Fred Astaire's proven curriculum, developed by the studio founder and unique to the Fred Astaire organisation. The Brookfield location serves neighbouring communities including Elm Grove, New Berlin, Wauwatosa and Milwaukee.
The studio runs a full calendar of events including guest parties, showcases, spotlights and coaching sessions. Guest coaches like Travis Tuft visit regularly. Students can compete in regional, national and international Pro-Am and professional dance competitions, including the Milwaukee DanceSport Classic & Awards Gala, Dance Fantasy, Great Lakes Championships, Spring Trophy Ball, Wisconsin Grand Championships, Cream City Challenge, and Holiday Trophy Ball.
Wedding dance instruction is a core offering: couples can arrange anything from a simple first dance to fully choreographed routines for the entire wedding party. The studio also offers Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances. Staff are nationally certified instructors, many with Fine Arts degrees and active competition experience. Dance Instructors hail from all over the world. Anna Tomasini is the Studio Director.
The studio's mission, stated since 1947, is enriching lives—physically, mentally, emotionally and socially—through the positive, transforming power of dance. The space is designed as a modern, chic atmosphere with a beautiful dance floor and ceiling that provides inspiration. Social dance parties include events like the Rock of Ages Social Practice Party (Thursday evenings) and spotlight performances such as "The Elements" featuring student performances. An introductory offer is available for new students.
