Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Greenwood teaches ballroom, Latin, Swing and competitive dance to adults, teens and children. The studio offers Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Waltz. You can learn American or International Ballroom Styles, or both.
Lessons are available as private instruction, group classes, and practice parties. The studio teaches individuals and couples — no partner required. You can take lessons in-person at the Greenwood location (954 N State Rd 135, Suite D) or virtually from home. The teaching method is the Fred Astaire Curriculum, developed by Fred Astaire himself and unique to the organization. According to the studio, you'll be on your way to confident dancing by the end of your first lesson.
The Greenwood studio serves Franklin, Homecroft, Southport, Beech Grove, Johnson County, Plainfield, Avon and Brownsburg, situated about 20 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis. The studio offers a welcoming, non-judgmental environment described as having "friendly energy and a sense of FADS community." Kids' Dance Lessons are available for ages 5–17, with no prior experience required. Programs include Ballroom, Latin, line dancing, hip-hop and theatre arts.
Wedding dance instruction ranges from a simple first dance to YouTube-worthy routines for the entire wedding party. The studio runs Guest Parties, Showcases, Spotlights, Community Outreach Events, Coaching Sessions and off-site Group Outings. Competitive dancers can enter Regional, Inter-Regional, National and International Pro-Am and Professional Dance Competitions. New students can take advantage of a special introductory offer: 1 dance session for $45.
