About this studio
Fred Astaire Dance Studios in New Berlin teaches ballroom, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm and Swing dance. The studio has made Wisconsin home for over 50 years. Classes are held Monday to Friday, 12pm to 9pm, at 15437 West National Avenue.
You can take private lessons, group classes, or attend practice parties. The studio offers instruction in Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz, and West Coast Swing. No partner is required—the studio teaches individuals and couples.
Youth programmes are available for children ages 3 to 18, with benefits including posture, musicality, self-confidence, social skills, hand-eye coordination, memory and brain development, teamwork, healthy competition, and healthy expression of emotions. Adult group classes welcome all ages and skill levels, with no experience necessary. The studio also runs a Neurodivergent Adaptive Dance Program designed for children and teens ages 6 and up on the neurodivergent spectrum including autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and OCD. Parent or caregiver presence is required for the entire duration of adaptive classes. Solo and group performance opportunities are available.
LaBlast Fitness classes, created by world-renowned dancer Louis van Amstel, are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:50pm. LaBlast is a partner-free dance fitness workout accessible for all levels, mixing ballroom dances set to pop, rock, hip-hop and country music. Packages are available for purchase: 1 class for $25, or 5 classes for $100.
Wedding dance lessons are available. The studio also hosts Regional, Inter-Regional, National and International Pro-Am and Professional Dance Competitions, including the Milwaukee DanceSport Classic & Awards Gala, Dance Fantasy, Great Lakes Championships, Spring Trophy Ball, Wisconsin Grand Championships, Cream City Challenge, and Holiday Trophy Ball. Students regularly compete at events like the Fred Astaire World Championships. The studio operates an online Dance Store with dance-related items.
