GRUV Dance Academy

GRUV Dance Academy teaches a wide range of Indian dance styles to students of all ages and skill levels. The studio specializes in Bollywood, but also offers instruction in Bhangra, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Semi-classical, and Freestyle dance. Each style has distinct characteristics: Bollywood combines traditional Indian classical dance with Western styles like jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary, known for colorful costumes and expressive hand movements. Bhangra is a high-energy traditional folk dance from the Punjab region featuring intricate hand movements and lively music. Kathak is a classical North Indian style characterized by intricate footwork, fluid arm movements, and graceful turns, often accompanied by traditional instruments like the sitar and tabla. Bharatanatyam, a classical South Indian form with roots in ancient temples, emphasizes intricate footwork, fluid hand gestures, and expressive facial expressions, traditionally performed in a saree or pavada. Semi-classical blends traditional Indian classical dance with contemporary elements and is performed to classical, folk, and Bollywood music.
