About this studio
Helsinki Salsa Academy runs the most comprehensive Salsa and Bachata training team system in Finland. Over the past 14 years, they've trained thousands of dancers, including many who progressed from complete beginners to instructors. The academy offers a systematic, multi-level approach designed for steady improvement at every stage.
Class options span from Novice through Advanced levels in both Salsa and Bachata, plus Afro-Cuban styles including Casino, Son, Rumba, Orishas, and Cali-salsa taught through their partnership with Sentimiento Manana, one of Finland's top Cuban Salsa schools. Programmes include Rising Salsa Stars and Bachata Rising Stars teams, Ladies-specific classes, and Afro-Mambo. You can also take a free 5-day online Salsa course or free 5-day Bachata course to start, followed by a 5-week online Salsa course if you prefer learning from home.
The academy operates across three convenient Helsinki locations: Konala (Hankasuontie 3), Kallio (Aleksis Kiven Katu 34), and Salmisaari (Energiakatu 3, 4th floor). The main Konala studio includes a 90 m² main dance hall, two additional training halls (40 m² each), a 60 m² lobby area, and a lobby area with party lighting. Fall 2026 early-bird pricing is 375€ for the entire season (regular price 395€) when registered by August 10th; additional training teams cost 139€ each.
The academy offers private lessons tailored to your level, wedding choreographies, an HSA Instructor Training Program (intensive 6-month format), and studio rental for workshops, events, parties, and festivals. They also provide an online video library and maintain an active community through a public Telegram group and Instagram. After you register for a season, you receive a Student PDF guide to prepare for classes.

Your first visit
You'll join a multi-level training system where you start at your ability (Novice, Beginner, Improver, or Advanced) and progress through structured teams. After registering, you'll receive a Student PDF guide. The academy emphasizes a supportive community of committed students learning salsa, bachata, and Afro-Cuban dance styles across three well-equipped Helsinki studios.
Instructors
Who teaches here
Mila Kemppe is co-owner and teaches across all salsa and bachata levels; she is a two-time Central Federal district champion from Russia and competed internationally. Mikko Kemppe heads the academy as Head Trainer. Jesús La Rosa Pérez, an acclaimed Afro-Cuban dance maestro, leads Afro-Cuban offerings through Sentimiento Manana partnership and was part of the artistic direction at Ballet Folklórico del Oriente. Valtteri Hakala and Aurora Luotonen graduated from the 6-month HSA instructor training programme together and teach Novice-Beginner and Improver levels. Matias Lindevall, who passed the HSA instructor training exam in 2024 with exemplary grades, teaches primarily Bachata teams.
