About this studio
Hermann Sons Hall is a historic San Antonio venue that has been a focal point of the downtown landscape since 1911, home to the historic Rathskeller Bar, a ballroom, a bowling alley, and a rooftop garden. The vintage hall has been a favorite venue for dances and events for over a century, featuring a large elevated stage beneath a stunning stained glass window, a wood floor, great natural light, vintage light fixtures, and beer and wine bar service. Among the rich German social traditions imported to the hall, dancing was paramount, and the ballroom continues to host social dances such as monthly swing dance lessons and parties.

The ballroom regularly hosts social dance events, including a recurring Swing Dance Lesson & Party (around $20-$25). The Rathskeller Bar is open to the public with Friday night trivia and happy hour, and the hall can be rented for weddings, parties, and special events of all kinds.
Studio history
Hermann Sons Hall opened in 1911 and has been home to the San Antonio Hermann Sons lodges and Home Association ever since. The on-site Rathskeller Bar holds the oldest continuously held beer and wine license in Texas.
