About this studio
Ballet San Antonio is San Antonio's only professional ballet company and a resident company of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Established in 1985 as Texas Ballet Concerto, the company adopted its current name in 1991 to reaffirm its commitment to its home city. In the 2026–27 season, Ballet San Antonio employs 26 professional dancers organised into principal, soloist, and corps de ballet ranks. The company produces three full productions each season, including the annual holiday classic The Nutcracker, plus Dracula (October 2026) and Carmen (February 2027).
The School of Ballet San Antonio (SBSA) offers high-quality dance training for students ages 2 and above, with separate adult classes (ages 18+). The school is run by the company itself, and many of the instructors are Ballet San Antonio's professional dancers. This creates a rare opportunity: students learn directly from seasoned artists they see performing on the Tobin Center stage, gaining personal attention, expert training, and real-world inspiration.
The school operates on three tracks. Pre-Ballet (ages 2–7) builds foundational coordination, rhythm, and imagination through age-appropriate, joyful movement. The Pre-Professional Track (ages 8–18) offers structured, rigorous training in ballet and related disciplines for students with serious commitment. Adult classes welcome dancers of all levels—from absolute beginners to seasoned performers—and include Beginner Ballet, Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, and Modern.
Students have a unique opportunity to perform alongside the professional company in full-scale productions at the Tobin Center. Beyond this, students also showcase their growth in the Annual Spring Showcase and may participate in other community performances throughout the year. In summer (June 8–September 1, 2026), drop-in classes are offered on a flexible basis.
Ballet San Antonio is deeply committed to community access. Through the "Send the Kids to the Ballet" program, launched in the 2024–25 season, the company has already served more than 10,000 children with free tickets and transportation. During the 2026–27 season, Ballet San Antonio will provide at least 5,000 free tickets to children from schools and youth organisations across San Antonio who would otherwise lack access to live performance.

Instructors include Heather Duffield, Alexandra Carey, Vianca Palacios, Alexa Horwath, Julia Davies, Elaine Blank, Will Robichaud, Aidan Carrasquel, Sofie Bertolini, Buse Babadag, Sofia Marquez, and Britt Lorraine. Adult ballet classes are taught by Sofia Marquez, Aidan Carrasquel, and others; Modern is taught by Britt Lorraine.
