Jasmine Tui School of Dance

Jasmine Tui School of Dance is run by Jasmine Tui Paine, who trained in classical ballet from age 11 at the Affleck Academy of Dancing for 15 years, reaching Intermediate level. She graduated from Northumbria University in 2003 with a BA Honors degree in Performance and gained her IDTA Associate dance teaching qualification in 2006. She established the school in Gosforth in 2008, and it has grown into a popular dance school where students stay from preschool through to university age.

The school offers classes in ballet and street dance across a range of levels. Ballet classes follow the IDTA (International Dance Teacher's Association) syllabus, which combines traditional classwork with free expressive movement to alternative music. Classes range from First Steps Ballet for ages 3–5 through to Grade 4 Ballet and Intermediate Ballet. Street Dance classes teach hip hop, funk styles such as popping and locking, breaking and house, working from the UDO Academy syllabus. Little Groovers is a separate class for ages 5–9 that teaches freestyle, modern, hip hop and other styles over 2–3 week cycles, with a drop-in policy.

Classes are held at Trinity Church on Gosforth High Street, directly opposite the shopping centre. The school has access to the church's stage facilities, which allows students to perform to large audiences in a professional environment. All classes require advance booking and are charged per term (based on an average of 12 weeks with school holiday breaks). Prices range from £5.50 per session for Street Dance Minis to £94 per term for advanced ballet grades. Some classes may have waiting lists.

Beyond regular classes, the school offers children's parties (from approximately £85–£150 depending on length and numbers) with options including Ballet, Hip Hop, Street Dance, Pop, Cheerleading or High School Musical themes. Party packages can run up to 2 hours and include choreographed routines, face paints, games with prizes, crafts and performances. Hen parties are also available at £120 for up to 8 people, plus £10 per person thereafter, based on 1.5 hours including hall hire.

Jasmine Tui Paine emphasises that every student who passes through the doors is important, and she believes in the power of dance to enrich lives, build confidence and develop lifelong skills. All teachers are professionally qualified, DBS checked and fully insured. Registration is handled via Class Manager, where parents can create an account to manage bookings and class information.

Classes are held at Trinity Church on Gosforth High Street. You will need to book in advance via Class Manager. Fees are charged per term. If your child is new to ballet, First Steps Ballet (ages 3–5) offers basic movement and fun; for street dance, Street Dance Minis (ages 4–6) teaches from the UDO Academy syllabus. Little Groovers operates on a drop-in policy, so you can join at any point during the term.
