Just Dance On - Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio

Just Dance On is a professional ballroom and Latin dance studio in Virginia Beach led by owner and lead instructor Melinda Mielock, who brings over 30 years of teaching experience. The studio specialises in American style ballroom and Latin dance, serving both adults and youth throughout the Hampton Roads area. Melinda was born in Topeka, Kansas and discovered her passion for dance at age five. Her professional experience spans stage and screen: from 2007 to 2010 she helped develop and participated in the United Way's Dancing with Our Stars event, made her stage debut in Ballroom produced by the Virginia Musical Theatre, Inc. in 2009, and has appeared on Investigation Discovery's Happily Never After as a ballroom and jazz dancer. She also performed in the inaugural Dancing with the Hampton Roads Celebrity Stars event at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. Beyond dance, Melinda sings and performs with the Virginia Coast Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, which earned 3rd place internationally in the small chorus division in 2013. She also serves as sole choreographer for Envision Lead Grow, a national organization dedicated to developing leadership in young girls, guiding students through a transformative journey that culminates in a formal graduation dance.

Scott Mielock serves as assistant instructor. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated in 1990 and joined the United States Navy as a Reservist working as an Aviation Structural Mechanic before volunteering for the elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) program. Over 27 years of distinguished active-duty service, he earned multiple medals and citations including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" for Valor, rising to Chief Warrant Officer 3. He later served as a United States Border Patrol Agent within the Department of Homeland Security for 3–4 years, playing a direct role in disrupting sex and weapons trafficking routes and conducting drug interdiction operations. Scott met Melinda while training in ballroom and Latin dance. His military assignments placed him in England, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, broadening his appreciation for dance and performing arts. He has appeared in Hawaii Five-0, House of Cards, several short films and commercials, and AMC's TURN alongside Jamie Bell. He held a supporting role opposite Bill Moseley in the feature film The Possession Experiment (2016). His most recent film, Mary for Mayor (2020), is available on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and Vudu. He is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

The studio offers private lessons for personalized one-on-one instruction tailored to each student's goals, focusing on technique, confidence, and individual growth. Group lessons provide a fun, collaborative environment through a structured Partnership Dance Program with four progressive levels: Level 1 (Let's Get Started) teaches foundation of partner dancing in dances like Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, and Foxtrot; Level 2 (Let's Build Momentum) expands skills with smoother transitions and more dynamic movement; Level 3 (Let's Level Up) refines technique with more challenging choreography, shaping, styling, and body action like Cuban motion or rise and fall; Level 4 (Let's Master This) focuses on artistry, precision, complex figures and nuanced body mechanics. The studio also offers wedding choreography services creating memorable first dances tailored to each couple's style, comfort level, and vision, with choreography available for bridal parties, receptions, and special wedding moments. Studio productions bring students to the stage through fully designed performances with concept, choreography, staging, and rehearsal direction, and the studio offers creative support for outside artists including choreography and performance development. JDO Fit is a high-energy dance fitness experience blending easy-to-follow choreography with full-body conditioning, requiring no dance background.

Melinda Mielock (Owner/Lead Instructor) brings over 30 years of teaching experience, professional stage and film credits, and a background in American and International ballroom and Latin styles. Scott Mielock (Assistant Instructor) is a former US Navy Chief Warrant Officer 3 and Border Patrol Agent with film and television acting experience who supports dancers as they grow.
