About this studio

L'Académie opened in September 1990 on Boulevard de Cimiez in Nice under the direction of Elisabeth Sicart-Abécassis. Since 2007, the school has expanded to operate two studios, offering flexibility in scheduling and course choice while maintaining a unified teaching philosophy. The studio teaches dance to all ages, from dance awakening for children from age 4 onwards, through to adult classes.

Elisabeth Sicart-Abécassis brings substantial professional experience to the school. She trained as a classical dancer and performed with major companies including the Opéra de Nice, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, and the Ballet Français de Nancy under Patrick Dupont's direction. During her professional career she worked alongside renowned dancers including Noëlla Pontois, Rudolf Noureev, and Maya Plisetskaya. She is supported by a talented team of qualified instructors.

The school's disciplines include dance awakening for the youngest students, classical dance, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary. For adult students, classes focus on maintenance and development, including barre à terre (barre au sol), classical dance, jazz, pilates, and fun dance. These courses emphasise both physical effort and pleasure, aiming to help students reconnect with their bodies and build inner wellbeing.

Each year, L'Académie organises an end-of-year gala, held in 2026 at the Opéra de Nice. The performance brings together costumes, sets, music and lighting to showcase student progress. The school also emphasises competitive achievement: students have achieved regional and national results in the CND (Concours) competitions.

The studio operates from two locations: Studio 1 (Le Régina) at 71 Boulevard de Cimiez and Studio 2 at 73 Boulevard de Cimiez. Administrative enquiries and enrolments are handled at Studio 2.
