La Pantera (Tango Argentino)

La Pantera teaches Argentine tango across three locations: Zürich (in a tropical indoor setting), Rapperswil (in Vinoteca Mi Tierra), and Zug (in a jazz bar with Bohemian style). The studio was originally founded in 2009 as CAT – Cuartito Azul Tango in a blue-painted warehouse. In 2012, it became the official branch of Carlitos and Rosa Perez from Buenos Aires, the pair from the Época de Oro who shaped tango's style and trained countless professional couples and world champions. In October 2019, the school moved to its current Zürich home, designed as a lush indoor jungle. In September 2022, it was renamed La Pantera to match the tropical environment and the studio's traditional symbol of the black cat.

The teaching approach focuses on observing the structure of successful dancers worldwide and giving you the tools to create your own tango story. The goal is to provide a working movement language from the start so you feel comfortable in milongas (free dance evenings) and become a valued dance partner. The studio emphasises body empathy over technique alone. For leaders, the foundational structure is taught within six months, sharpening coordination and mutual body awareness. For followers, the focus is on understanding how the body arranges itself perfectly within the embrace, learning movement concepts rather than step sequences, maintaining ground connection and full control regardless of the leader's level.

The Zürich studio features hundreds of tropical plants including banana trees, large-leafed ficus trees, and palms, creating immediate wellbeing. La Pantera also sells plants and offers indoor gardening classes, and can help transform offices or living spaces into green oases. The school is a member of the Swiss Dance Association (TVS) and recognised by health insurance SWICA, which offers generous annual contributions for courses and private lessons with appropriate supplementary insurance.

Regular milongas (social dance evenings) run at the Zürich location, with recent events including milongas on 7, 14, and 21 August, and an anniversary milonga on 25 September 2026 (marking 17 years). The studio offers group classes, private lessons, special classes, wedding dance instruction, and workshops. Spaces are available for rent for private events, corporate functions, or regular mind-body practices. Gift vouchers can be customised for private lessons, lounge or milonga entry, or tango shoes and clothing from the on-site shop.

A free trial lesson lets you experience tango in an immersive tropical setting. Classes teach Argentine tango as movement conversation between partners, building from core structure rather than choreography. Milongas run Thursday to Saturday nights, 21:30–01:30, as free-form social dance evenings.

The teaching team includes Viviana Parra, Julián Vilardo, Milena Perraudin, Giovanni Montana, and Angela Baciu. The studio's lineage runs through Carlitos and Rosa Perez, the Época de Oro couple from Buenos Aires.
